Mandy Moore and singer Ryan Adams are no longer together because he can’t handle life in the spotlight.

Ryan has issued a statement blaming the media for the breakup and he says he is “allergic” to the cameras.

He tells OK!, “Unfortunately I am allergic to paparazzi and have found the best antidote to that sort of nonsense is staying behind the guitar and typewriter, staying close to my support group of friends and band mates and not engaging in activities that prevent me from taking care of myself or others.”

“I found the entire speculation and subsequent photographs and intrusions terrifying and only wish to live as normal a life as possible, so that I might always remain punk as f*** AND sober.”

The pair had been dating since December, but news didn’t leak out until March and then they finally went public in May. And were over by July.

Ryan adds, “Mandy is one of those genuinely sweet angelic people you wish to meet your whole life.”

“I am grateful for our friendship and how it allowed us both to grow and learn more.”

Sounds like boyfriend needs to get over himself.

If you want to stay out of the spotlight, don’t issue a statement to OK!

No one cares who he’s dating, they just care about Mandy.

And why can’t she just find a nice boy?

Mands has been linked with Andy Roddick, Wilmer Valderrama, Zach Braff, DJ AM and actor/singer Greg Laswell.

We think she may have better luck with someone not in the bizness.
