Sean Avery: Vogue Intern

To sports fans, Sean Avery known as the most despised player in the National Hockey League, a title bestowed on him by most of his peers for his unconventional, agitating style on the ice.
To the fashion set, he’s known as the hockey-star-about-town who tag teams events with fellow NHLer Brendan Shanahan, dates beautiful starlets (he was once engaged to Elisha Cuthbert) and covets his black patent leather Yves Saint Laurant high-tops. In fact, the 28-year-old Avery loves the industry so much, he penned a letter to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, expressing his desire to be a fashion editor once his hockey career is over and asking for a summer job with the magazine.
Wintour — who cannot seem to resist young, handsome and rich professional athletes (see: Roger Federer) — then waved her Chanel wand and gave an intern position to Avery, who will be a regular at 4 Times Square once his post-regular season games are over. A magazine spokesman disclosed the hockey star will work with several top-level editors (including Hamish Bowles) and will be performing regular intern duties at the revered glossy, like making photocopies and messengering gowns. Unlike the rest of Vogue’s interns, Avery is probably not that interested in scoring a coveted $30,000 entry-level position, considering he makes a cool $2 million per season in the NHL.
The biggest question for the hulking hockey player really is, how is he going to fit in all those size 0 sample sizes??
